The Snowflake Connector by axtesys makes your Siemens industrial Edge Device ready for transmitting data to your Snowflake Database anywhere in the world.

Reliability and System Stability​

We ensure fail-safe transmission of your data via the data bus. A built-in buffer and the detection of a failure in the transmission ensure that none of your data is lost and that it is also correctly transmitted afterwards. The Siemens Industrial Edge Device continues to record the data from your machines, stores it temporarily and transfers it as soon as the connection is restored.
If your Server has a Snowflake Certification, our Edge Connector will safely deposit it. It is then used for validation.

Simple Configuration​

The simple configuration with the Siemens Common Configurator allows you to configure the application in the familiar Siemens interface you are already used to.

Communication with Snowflake database:​

The connector interacts with the database through:

1. Data Ingestion (Streaming)​
  • Function: Continuous, low-latency loading of streaming data directly into Snowflake.
  • Mechanism: Utilizes snowpipe streaming client to open direct channels to database tables.
  • Behavior: Buffers and streams data rows efficiently using snowflake's snowpipe streaming cababilities.
2. Health Monitoring (Connectivity)​
  • Function: Continuous connection health checks.
  • Mechanism: Uses a standard JDBC database connection.
  • Behavior: Periodically executes lightweight queries to ensure the database is reachable and responsive.
3. Schema Validation (Metadata)​
  • Function: Startup configuration verification.
  • Mechanism: Uses a standard JDBC database connection.
  • Behavior: Queries database metadata to verify that the configured tables and columns actually exist in the target database before data inserting begins.
